Hanafuda Game, Prime Minister's Flower Karuta Edition

The first Prime Minister of Japan, Lord Hirobumi Ito, commissioned Oishi Tengudo to create this flower karuta in order to preserve for posterity the early flower karuta beautifully depicted in Japanese paintings. This is the first reprinted large Hanakaruta since the Meiji era (1868-1912), and is larger than regular Hanafuda. Since these flower karuta depict seasonal flowers, plants, animals, and landscapes of Japan, they are recommended as gifts for those who are interested in karuta unique to Japan and Japanese culture.
